Recycling Bin Information
Acceptable Recycling Containers or Bins
- Any trash can, container or storage bin is now accepted.
- Your trash collectors do request that you clearly label the containers “recycling” so as not to confuse your trash from your recycling.
- Drill several drainage holes at the bottom of your container to allow water to drain out of your bin.
- IF CRITTERS ARE A PROBLEM…COVER YOUR CONTAINER!!!
- Overall, Baltimore City doesn’t experience a rodent problem with rinsed recyclables. If you do find this problem, please call 311 and we can assist by tagging homes in your area with a reminder note for your neighbors that recyclables should be rinsed for obvious reasons. No food to nibble, no rodents.
- Paper bags—PLEASE, NO plastic bags of any kind; they jam the sorter machines that separate the various types of recyclables.
- Cardboard boxes
- Yellow Promotional Bins:
- Baltimore City offers two sizes of bins for sale; 25 gallons for $12 and 18 gallons for $5. The bins do not come with lids and Baltimore City Code does not require lids on recycling bins
